Anew Development is pleased to have provided development services to Ed Gardner, owner of the approximately 156,000 square foot, 10-story office building at 511 Congress Street in the development of the 287 space, Arts District Garage. Prior to the development of the garage, the property’s surface parking lots underserved the full parking demands of the building by nearly 150 spaces. As a result, many tenants of the building resorted to off-site garages; some several blocks away.
Completed in 2019, the Arts District Garage allows the owner to full accommodate the parking demands of 511 Congress Street while also providing much demanded holiday, night, and weekend parking for the general public on a pay-to-park basis. The Arts District Garage allows 511 Congress to attract and retain high quality tenants, benefit area businesses and arts venues, and add significant new revenue to the City’s tax rolls.
The addition of the Arts District Garage has positioned 511 Congress Street to attract and retain high quality service industry businesses in downtown Portland; businesses that provide on the order of 300 well paying jobs to our local economy.
Moreover, the creation of the Arts District Garage has freed up other parking lots elsewhere in the neighborhood for high density housing development with the potential to provide over 100 units of new housing to the Portland market.
Anew is pleased and proud to have worked with both Platz Architects and Allied Cook Construction on the design and construction of the Arts District Garage.
